Gano coffee is made from the Ganoderma mushroom also called the "Herb of Immortality". Called Reishi in Japan, Lingzhi in China, and Youngzhi in Korea, gano coffee may be called by these names. Grown in mountainous, wooded forests on dead trees, this red colored mushroom, have been used in the Eastern Cultures for over 4000 years, with 2000 years of documented history. Often times when the weather conditions are not right, the scarcity of this red mushroom is apparent as research shows the mushrooms growing on 2 or 3 trees out of 10,000.

The Eastern cultures have believed for thousands of years that this mushroom promotes a healthy body. While more traditional coffee in the western cultures have side effects for such as jitters from too much caffeine, problems sleeping, fatigue, caffeine withdrawal headaches, mood swings, and heart palpitations, to name a few, gano coffee does not. It is considered a healthy coffee with its ability to help with many bodily functions and systems. It tastes and smells like coffee.
Gano coffee is thought to help maintain a healthy cholesterol level, rev up the metabolism to shed fat, detoxify the body, increase stamina, and claims have been made that it has anti-aging properties. It is also considered an anti-oxidant, and an anti-free radical. It helps support a healthy immune system and improves brain function by maintaining a healthy brain oxygen level. It improves the functioning of the liver which helps the body to detoxify and supports a healthy immune system. All of these health claims made are making gano coffee interesting to the people.
While those in the west are skeptical, they are becoming an increasingly health conscious society. Gano coffee is becoming an appealing substitute for the traditional coffee most Americans are drinking today. Those in western cultures are always looking for a healthy choice, and perhaps for some gano coffee may become the coffee of choice in the future.

Steep like tea or brew like coffee. Any way you do it, you'll be getting a tasty and healthy caffeine-free beverage!
Add 1 tablespoon for every 1 cup of pure water, and boil about 5-10 minutes. Strain and drink. Straining is optional, as the grounds will be soft and are edible. The longer it boils, the stronger it gets. Serve with milk or cream, or soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, or coconut milk.
This also works well, and produces a deep flavored cup. Use from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of Roast per cup (8 ounces) of water.
Pour boiling water into a coffee/tea press, and add the Roast. Then let sit for 5-10 minutes, depending on the strength desired.
Grind the Ayurvedic Roast in a coffee grinder, and then you're ready for the espresso machine!
Pour hot water into a cup containing 1-3 teaspoons (based on desired strength), and let sit for 3-5 minutes. The grounds will get soft, and can be eaten, as they are the barley, rye, and chicory root. Healthy!

This herbal coffee has an earthy, full bouqeut. Nicely aromatic. I've become addicted to it! Drinking this coffee alternative just makes me feel good!Garrick Ginzberg-Voskov
After being told that caffeine was significantly bad for us over 40's, and that decaf had bad effects on cholesterol, I decided to try the herbal coffee route. My wife and I have tried the 'other' herbal coffee and Ayurvedic Roast. We both enjoyed the slightly stronger coffee flavor and definitely less sweet flavor of the Ayurvedic Roast. It smells better out of the bag as well as during the brew process. It was easy to make in our drip coffee maker, and maintained flavor even when cold (yes, I drink cold coffee after hours of sitting around). While I have become hooked on the flavor of coffee, this substitute is sufficient to fool me with its own unique, in a good way, flavor.Bob Flanagan
